Getting Started with Scheme

Welcome to Scheme! Let’s get you started taking notes and organizing your work!

Scheme organizes your work through Nodes, Clusters, Projects and Spaces.

Spaces are where all of your work lives in Scheme. You will build Nodes (from notes, AI chats and files) that you can then organize into Clusters (multiple Nodes that have connections – the real magic of Scheme). To help you further organize your work, you can create Projects inside of a Space, and add certain Nodes and Clusters to those projects.

First off, you’ll create a Space:
  1. On the left sidebar, click on the Spaces icon, or from the Home section, click on Create your First Space.

  2. Click the Create New Space button

  3. Give your space a name and optional description

  4. Click the Create Space button

Next, create your first Node. You have two choices: you can create a Note Node or an AI Note Node.

Create Note Node
  1. To create a Note Node, click the + button in the header area

  2. Type in or paste text into the Node and/or attach a file

  3. Create the Note Node

Create AI Note Node
  1. To create an AI Note Node, click the star icon in the header

  2. Type or paste a query for AI to answer, or click the + sign to upload a file to add to the query

  3. Click the Scheme button and AI will generate an answer to your query

Once you have a few Nodes added to your Space you may want to Cluster your Nodes. Scheme uses many signals to create Clusters, which allow you to group – and then dig deeper into – your Nodes.

Create Clusters
  1. On the bottom toolbar, click on the “Recluster graph” icon (second from the right)

  2. If this is your first time create Clusters, your Nodes will be organized into their respective Clusters and will be connected by Edges, which are represented by dotted lines

  3. If you have previously clustered your Space, Scheme will recluster your Nodes based on the latest data that you have added

  4. Once you have created a Cluster, you can either expand it to see all Nodes, or collapse it so you can focus on other parts of you Space, then expand it whenever you wish

At anytime, you may create or add Nodes to a Project.

Create Projects
  1. In the bottom toolbar, click the Space Management icon (4 squares)

  2. Click the Projects button

  3. If this is your first Project, click the New Project button

  4. Give your Project a name and create it

Add Nodes to Projects
  1. For existing Nodes, you can hover over the 3 dots icon in the bottom right corner of the Node, and then click the folder icon

  2. A popup will appear and you can then either search for a Project or add the Node directly into a Project

  3. For new Nodes, you have the option of clicking the Select a Project drop-down in the header, and then selecting the Projects that new Nodes will automatically be added to
